Rain

Walk in the rain with me, let us pray.

I’m hoping it rains,

Giving myself away to the drops of heavenly glee – falling from the sky into every pore of my skin, to rid me of this unbearable pain that has clothed my flesh with ticks of intentional scars.

To inhale the smell that comes from the dust of the ground, patted by the water from above. The type that makes you take in a deep breath of satisfaction in an inexpressible way — cloud nine, kind of.

Drowning my fear in the water, reciting verses from the holy scripture;

“For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.” Amen.

To let the water draw patterns on my face. Washing away the tessellation of temporary gladness and fractions of hope — my heart seeks compassion, love and happiness.

To feel my body trembling at the sound of the thunder. My eyes twitching at the sight of lightning, and my soul singing psalms of praise;

“Let everything that has breath praise the Lord.”
